Rob Rain announced Friday that he will challenge incumbent Alan Jenkins for the District 2 Spartanburg City Council seat this November.
“Spartanburg is a city that values partnerships, both to improve the lives of families and to elevate the community as a whole,” Rain said. “If elected, I look forward to working alongside my fellow residents, community organizations and city leadership to build a brighter future.”
Rain, 34, is the president of the Industrial Division of Johnson Development Associates where he sources, develops and manages the company’s industrial projects. Previously, he worked for WJ Partners Portfolio Co., Mobile Communications America, and EnCap Investments. Rain also served as an infantry officer in the Marine Corps for four years, receiving a Bronze Star with Valor for actions in multiple enemy engagements in Afghanistan.
